NFL Football Betting For Newbies

NFL Football Betting is the industry’s most popular gaming area. This article is designed to introduce the new bettors to the various aspects of NFL Football betting. We’ll focus on the basics.

Normaly, when you bet against a spread, you have to wager $110 in order to win $100. This is represented as -110. The $10 extra is called the “vig” (or “juice”). Some sportsbooks offer specials such as “reduced vig” (-105, for instance). You would bet only $105 for $100.

NFL Football Betting is based on a betting line. This is also called a point-spread. Let’s say, for example, that Miami plays Buffalo. Miami’s odds are listed at -7, which means Miami has the advantage. Buffalo would be listed at +7, making them the underdog. You can win a bet if you bet at Miami – 7 and Miami wins the game by seven or more points. If you bet on Buffalo with a + 7 then Buffalo has to either win or lose the game by less than seven in order to win. If Miami wins the game by exactly seven points then it is called a “push”, or “no-action,” and all bettors who placed a wager on either team get their original stake amount back.

It is easy to see that betting on Buffalo would give you a much better chance to win, as they do not even need to win the match to make your bet successful. You could lose your bet if you choose to wager on Miami. They could win, but not by more than seven points. Many NFL betting specialists bet only on underdogs.

There may be a Total for the game. Let’s say that the Total is 43. Total is the total of all the points that both teams scored in the match. You would bet “Over the total” if you believe that the two teams combined will score more points than the 43 posted. If you believe that the two teams combined will score less than 43 then you should bet “Under Total”. If the final score is exactly 43 then it’s a “push”, or “no-action”. Everyone who bet on the total will get their original stake amount back BOLAFT.

Let’s say Miami wins the game 27-17. If you bet at -7, you would subtract seven points from Miami’s score. This makes Miami 20, Buffalo 17. If you bet on Buffalo with a +7, you would add seven points to Buffalo’s score. This would make Miami 27, Buffalo 24. Anyone who bet on Miami and lost on Buffalo won.

Miami 27, Buffalo 17 was the final score. This is a total score of 44. The total was 43. Bettors who bet on “Over the total” won because 44 is higher or over 43. Bettors who bet “Under the total” lost their bets.

These are the basic principles. The examples I have given above should help those of you new to NFL football betting. Now you’re ready to start your own NFL Football betting. Wishing you luck.
